Human Rights Committee of the CHDI network presents its first newsletter: 25N and violence against women in Chile

In order to continue the line of work regarding   human rights violations’ complaints in Chile, the Human Rights Committee introduces its newsletter, dedicated this month to commemorate the international day for the elimination of violence against women.

 

In this first edition, the companions have raised a situation of state in Chile, contextualizing the different violations in which women and girls have historically and systematically been victims.  Nevertheless, considering the social revolt in October and the ongoing pandemic, those women violations have become more acute.

 

This edition addresses a review regarding the violation of women’s rights in the context of social unrest, denouncing the situation that political prisoners are currently experiencing. Second, you will find a brief account of sexual and reproductive rights in the context of a pandemic. Violence against trans women in Chile is also visible, to end this installment with data regarding the other pandemic: femicides.

 

With this newsletter, the Human Rights Committee looks for  provide information and contribute to the dissemination of the situation faced by women and girls in Chile, to continue raising with force that we do not want any more deaths, or prisoners, for existing and for fighting.
